Short-Term Rental Terms

The following rental Terms & Conditions apply throughout Greece, including both mainland and island locations. 

Rental Duration & Late Return 

The minimum rental period is 24 hours. 
If the vehicle is returned with a delay of 60 minutes or more, an additional charge will apply according to the current price list. 

Age Requirements & Driving License 

The minimum driver age is 23 years and the maximum age is 69 years. The driver must hold a valid driving license issued at least one (1) year prior to the rental starting date. 

In cases where the above age requirements are not satisfied, the company reserves the right to proceed with the rental upon payment of an additional insurance fee. 

Drivers who are not residents of the European Union must hold a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) – especially if their driving license is not issued in Latin characters. 

Vehicle Pick-up & Return 

  • Drive offices: Free pick-up and return within the same city/station. 

Returning the vehicle to a different city is subject to additional charges and prior agreement. 

  • Airports: Free transfer to/from the pick-up location outside the airport, subject to station availability. 
  • Outside Drive offices: A minimum charge of €25,00 applies for pick-up or return at different locations. 
  • Distances over 40 km from a Drive office: Available upon request with an additional charge. 
  • Out of working hours (21:01–07:59): Additional charge of €40,00. 
    For Milos (port & airport) and Naxos offices, this applies from 21:01 to 08:59. 

Usage Restrictions 

The following are strictly prohibited

  • Driving outside Greek borders 
  • Driving on unpaved roads or off-road use 
  • Improper use or transportation of flammable, hazardous, or odorous materials 
  • Smoking / Vaping inside the vehicle, subject to a fine starting from €150.00 + VAT 
  • Towing or pushing vehicles or objects 
  • Using the vehicle for paid passenger transport 
  • Any modification or alteration of the vehicle 
  • Any repair or correction to the vehicle’s condition without the Drive’s official written approval. 

Insurance & Liability Limits 

  • Third Party Liability Insurance 
    Coverage up to €1,000,000 for physical injury and property damage to third parties. Damage to Drive’s vehicle is excluded. 
  • Basic Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) 
    Limits the renter’s liability between €930 – €1,860, depending on the vehicle category. 
  • Basic Insurance with Reduced Excess 
    Limits the renter’s liability between €300 – €900, depending on the vehicle category. 
     
  • Full Damage Waiver (FDW / SCDW) 
    The Full Collision Damage Waiver provides additional coverage, reducing the renter’s liability as follows:

€450 (from €1,860) 

The protection packages listed above do not cover damage to the underbody, rims, hubcaps, tires, glass components (including lights, windows, and mirrors), the antenna, the roof or the interior of the vehicle. 

  • Drive Safe+ Protection (PREMIUM) 

Drive Safe+ is the most comprehensive optional (premium) insurance package, which fully eliminates the renter’s liability as follows: 

  • €0 (from €930) 
  • €0 (from €1,302) 
  • €0 (from €1,860) 

Notice: This insurance does not cover damage to the following parts of the vehicle: underbody, rims, hubcaps, glass components (including lights, windows, and mirrors), the antenna and the interior. 

*In the event of any damage, an administrative fee of €50 + VAT shall apply, irrespective of the insurance package selected. 

Insurance Coverage Exclusions 

No insurance coverage applies in the following cases: 

  • Vehicle transportation by ferry 
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or substances 
  • Driving in violation of Greek traffic laws 
  • Damage occurring on unpaved roads or prohibited routes 
  • Damage to non-covered parts (e.g. tires, interior) 
  • Loss of personal belongings 
  • Driving by an undeclared driver 
  • Loss or damage of keys or additional equipment (GPS, child seats, etc.) 

Regardless of any coverage provided by third parties (e.g. credit card insurance), the renter is required to pay the full cost of any damage to Drive and seek reimbursement directly from the third party. 

In the event of an accident, the driver is required to complete an accident report, in accordance with Article K70 of Greek law, regardless of fault. 

Administration Fees 

In case of any accident or damage: non-refundable fee of €50,00 + VAT

Credit Card & Security Deposit 

  • Accepted cards: Credit cards Visa & MasterCard, physical cards only. 
  • Not accepted: Debit cards, prepaid cards, or cash. 
  • Security deposit: Pre-authorization of €300 – €1,860 (depending on the vehicle). 
  • At vehicle pick-up, the main driver must present their physical credit card. The card must be in the driver’s name, have embossed details, and support PIN usage. 

Failure to present a valid credit card, insufficient available funds, or a card not issued in the main driver’s name may result in non-delivery of the vehicle & no refund. 

Additional Driver 

Driving by an undeclared person is not covered by any insurance. 
Any additional driver must be declared at pick-up and present an ID or passport along with a valid driving license. 
An additional daily charge applies. 

Optional Extras (upon request) 

  • Child seats* 
  • Snow chains 
  • GPS navigation system 

Available with an additional daily charge. 

*The vehicle delivery representative bears no responsibility whatsoever for the installation of the child seat provided with the rental. The proper installation and secure fitting of the child seat in the vehicle are the sole responsibility of the renter. 

Fuel Policy 

The vehicle must be collected and returned with the same fuel level. 
If the fuel level differs: 

  • The renter will be charged for the missing fuel plus refueling administration fees. 
  • No refunds are provided for additional fuel. 

Alternatively, you may choose the “Fuel Level Selection service for an additional charge, allowing you to collect the vehicle with a full tank and return it with any fuel level. 

Cleanliness Policy & Car Wash Service 

All vehicles are delivered clean inside and out. Upon return, the renter must return the vehicle with a clean interior. 

If the vehicle is returned with visible dirt (e.g. sand, stains, trash), a cleaning fee from €25 will apply. 

In cases of excessively dirty interiors (e.g. liquid spills, food residue), a special cleaning fee from €99 may apply. 

An optional cleaning service is available for €15*. When selected at booking: 

  • You do not need to worry about light stains or minor interior dirt. 
  • Drive will handle the cleaning upon return. 

*If biological/deep cleaning is required upon return, additional charges may apply. 

Extended Road Assistance 

Drive provides roadside assistance in case of mechanical breakdown during the rental period. 

“ERA – Extended Roadside Assistance Service” includes: 

  • On-site minor repairs (battery boost/replacement, spare tire change) 
  • Fuel delivery 
  • Towing/transport to an authorized workshop or company station 
  • Replacement vehicle, where applicable 

However, the service does not cover incidents caused by improper or negligent use, such as: 

  • Use of incorrect fuel type 
  • Battery discharge due to negligence (e.g. lights or radio left on with engine off) 
  • Tire damage due to improper use 
  • Vehicle immobilization caused by driver fault (e.g. sand, unpaved roads, potholes) 

In such cases, additional charges per kilometer may apply for towing and/or repair. 

Ferry Transportation 

Allowed only with written approval from Drive. 
Cost: €25 per ferry route. 

Vehicle Replacement 

Drive provides a replacement vehicle within 24 hours in the event of an accident or damage, subject to zero or a minimum charge of €100,00 per case, depending on the insurance product selected at the start of the rental. 

Traffic Violations 

The renter is fully responsible for any traffic violations and is required to settle all related fines with the competent authorities.  
If not settled, Drive SA will charge the applicable amount plus administrative handling fees. 

Payments & Transaction Security 

Accepted payment methods: 

Credit, debit, or prepaid cards (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) via Alpha Bank and the certified electronic payment provider Nexi. 

Payment made via PayPal service. 

Payment made via IRIS service. 

Bank transfer to an account designated by the company, especially in the case of telephone bookings or upon special arrangement. 

  • All card payments are processed in a secure environment and protected by advanced security mechanisms, including TLS encryption and 3D Secure authentication, in accordance with European payment services legislation (PSD2). 
  • The company does not store card details or access sensitive payment data, as all processing is carried out exclusively within the secure systems of the payment providers. 
  • For bank transfers, the rental is considered confirmed only after the payment has been credited to the company’s bank account, unless otherwise agreed. 

Regardless of the payment method, a credit card (Visa or Mastercard) in physical form is required for the security deposit.  

Reservation Modification Fee 

Reinstatement or modification of a reservation (e.g. vehicle pick-up up to 3 hours later than the confirmed time, name change on the reservation etc.). 

Cancellation & No-Show Policy 

  • Cancellation up to 15 days before pick-up: Full refund of the prepaid amount. 
  • Cancellation within 15 days prior to pick-up: Refund with a deduction equivalent to one (1) rental day. 
  • No-show: If the renter fails to collect the vehicle on the scheduled date and time without prior notice, no refund will be issued. 

Rental Agreement 

Upon vehicle pick-up, the renter is required to sign the relevant rental agreement.
