Car rental & Insurance coverages. Everything you need to know

We’re here to provide detailed answers and make sure you feel comfortable every time you drive one of our cars.
1. Supply of full insurance through Drive (Full-Insurance without or with reduced exemption)
All our rentals include basic vehicle damage (CDW) coverage, which limits the driver’s involvement in the event of damage, and third party insurance. However, Full Insurance (FDW) coverage is now the preferred option Full Insurance with no or reduced Drive Exemption offers:
Reduction of liability in the event of an accident up to 100% (no or minimal driver participation in any damages)
Full insurance cover (FDW) is offered at an additional cost per day.
2. Buying insurance through a rental provider (agency, book AGENCY – 3rd partner)
Reservations through reservation agencies allow the purchase of insurance for the rental of the respective vehicle. Provided in the form of driver compensation, in case of damage*

3. Possession of insurance through a driver’s credit card
Some credit cards offer Insurance Coverage plans, which cover car accident damage. Provided in the form of driver compensation, in case of damage*

4. Possession of security through an insurance company policy
The same happens with insurance companies, where in contracts they provide coverage for damages in the event of an accident. Provided in the form of driver compensation, in case of damage*
*What do we mean by form of compensation in cases 2,3,4?
In these cases your insurance deals with the third party providers, who act as mediators. It is necessary to know that for any damages you will have to pay the participation amount (according to the liability amounts per category) and then request your respective amount of compensation from the insurance company, credit card or agency. Drive has no responsibility in these cases and does not undertake to compensate you.
Full car insurance can only be provided by Drive. Any other product is usually a waiver amount protection. In other words, in case of damage, request a refund from the car rental provider.

Be careful, though,
Any violations of the Road Traffic Code (e.g. consumption of alcoholic beverages, substances, etc.) invalidate any insurance coverage.
Rental vehicles are allowed to be driven on paved roads. Any damage caused by driving on dirt roads or off-road is not covered by any insurance.
Any form of insurance is addressed exclusively to the declared driver(s) of the vehicle. Any damage while driving illegally by any other driver voids all insurance coverage.
