Tire Change – Everything You Need to Know!

As important as the belt is in the car, so are the tires as they have a primary role for the safe movement of the car.

However, we all had the same questions the first time. When should I change my car tires? What are their dimensions? What is the appropriate pressure? Your Drive has the answers here too!

First, let’s start with their correct use

1. Check for wear and tear: Regularly check the tires for any wear, tear or loose pieces. If you find any problem, replace the tire.
2. Drive carefully on uneven surfaces: Watch out for potholes, jagged surfaces and uneven road surfaces as they can cause tire damage.
3. Maintain proper tire pressure: Check and maintain the recommended tire pressure regularly to avoid under- or over-inflation.
4. Avoid sudden acceleration and braking: Gentle driving habits can reduce unnecessary stress on their tires.

Think it’s time to replace your tires but aren’t sure? If you answered yes to one or more of the above questions, then it’s probably time.

Has it been 5 years since you bought the tires?
Do they have a strange or inexplicable shape?
Are they worn or are you experiencing difficulties while driving, such as vibrations or loss of traction?
Is their sole visibly or severely worn?
Do they have visible damage, such as cuts or stuck objects?

More specifically

The recommended interval for changing car tires is approximately every 40,000 kilometers or 4 years, whichever comes first. However, this is not a hard and fast rule as there are other factors to consider. It is possible that a tire has only covered 10,000 kilometers in 5 years or vice versa (more kilometers in a shorter period of 4 years). This does not mean that it can safely cover another 30,000 kilometers with maximum efficiency. Factors such as weather conditions, storage, use and maintaining proper tire pressure significantly affect tire life.
